SMART JOINT Heavy-Duty Electrofusion Coupling for Large-Diameter HDPE/PE100/PE4710 Pipelines
SMART JOINT large EF couplers cover dn450–dn1800 (18"–63"), with SDR7 / 9 / 11 / 13.6 / 17 / 21 / 26 available on request. Bodies are machined from extruded PE100 / hollow bars—not injection moulded—eliminating flow-path and void risks on big-bore joints.
Two independent fusion zones with mandatory pre-heat release pipe stress and correct ovality gaps before the main fusion cycle.

For large EF couplers, lateral-gate injection moulding leaves frozen flow lines and potential voids. Our hollow-bar machining process gives uniform wall density, so the coupler itself never becomes the weak point of the joint.
Every large EF coupler type is type-tested for long-term hydrostatic strength on assembled pipe+coupler specimens:
· Standard: ISO 1167-1 / ISO 1167-3 (water-in-water)
· Media: Water
· Temperature: 80 °C
· Duration: 1000 hours
· Applied circumferential (hoop) stress: 5.0 MPa (PE100 requirement per ISO 4427-3 / EN 12201-3)
· Result: No failure, no leakage, no brittle rupture of any test piece during the full 1000 h
Short-regime proofs (20 ℃/100 h @ 12.4 MPa, 80 ℃/165 h @ 5.4 MPa) are also on file; the 1000 h point is the decisive one for 50-year service extrapolation.
Large couplers need high-energy sources. Pair with SMART JOINT PH-4&PH-5 EF machine: 15 kW, 40–150 V AC output, barcode logging to ISO 13950, dual-zone pre-heat + fusion curve verified on site.
